Hobie Adventure Island 16′ roto-molded Trimaran

Here is video of the Hobie Adventure Island trimaran from one enthusiastic hobbyist. I received the following email from small tri sailor John Chaires the other day. John has become a big fan of the 16-foot Hobie tri and he’s been having some great fun with it down in Annapolis, MD.

Thanks for sharing this with me John!
………………………..

I just got in a Hobie Owners Group in Annapolis, MD. I bought a boat that
looked like a lot of fun and it far exceeded my expectation. I’m sending you
a video that I made and the info on this crazy owners group.

The Chesapeake Hobie Island Group is a bunch of Hobie AI owners that put up a web site and charge nothing to join or participate. They post where they will meet and sail together.

They pick good spots and everyone is responsible to bring what they need for the day. It’s semi-unorganized anarchy and so much fun. Click here to see the website address of the Chesapeake Hobie Island Annapolis Group.

You gotta own an Adventure Island and give them your name, address, email and contact phone. That’s all.

The boats are inexpensive and more fun for the money than anything I’ve owned in a long time. Like since I was a teenager. They’re easy to car top off a factory roof rack. Center sec of my boat weights only 72 lbs. It is rotomolded plastic and the video says it all. My friend had never sailed before and I just sort of threw him in. It was a pretty good day if I do say so myself.

Check it out. If people want to know more I guess they can check out the
Hobie Cat web site. Or contact Jean Tucker the Organizer of C.H.I.G. at
jeantckr AT gmail DOT com

Let people know about this boat. It’s been out a couple of years now. I’m
completely sold. I’ve had mine a year now. But I admit it’s more fun with
other people to sail with.

Thanks, John

I love John’s Video… I like the boats too! Thanks for spreading the word about them.

If you like the concept of the small sailing trimaran that folds, check out the TRITON Tandem Sailer. It has an unstaid roller furling mast and sail with full length vertical battens, foot steering and a patented wedge transom with a sweep action rudder. It comes with accessories like a rudder mounted electric trolling motor, and a forward cockpit spray shield with a windshield for extreme conditions.
