New 17-foot Trimaran Using Hobie 14 Hulls As Amas

The original Canoe-Trimaran has been upgraded. Big time!

Small tri enthusiast (and serious do-it-yourselfer) Jim Gallant previously displayed his approach to creating a unique, home-made trimaran creation that was a blend of simplicity, practicality and budget-mindedness. And while this new 17-foot model most certainly retains Jim’s approach to practical usefulness, it’s also a real eye-popper!

Even the color is going to attract attention from across the lake when Jim takes this craft out on the water.

Jim sent me the links to these photos … some of which include the building process. But be sure to scroll down and see the result of Jim’s efforts.

Wow :-)

These photos are shared with Jim’s permission, but be sure to check out both of his webpages for plenty more. Click here to visit the initial trimaran building blog featuring this new design. And click here to see the continuation of Jim’s construction of this 17-foot trimaran, which uses Hobie 14 hulls for amas. (Be sure to read his comments on the various sections of this sailboat).

Thanks for sharing these with us Jim!
