Hartley-Boats’ Lively 28 Trimaran Recently Launched

A newly constructed Lively 28 Trimaran (which is an older model one can still get building plans from via Hartley Boats) has just launched in South Africa.

Kevin G, who is the builder (and now sailor) of this boat has done a great job. We first heard about the building of his Lively 28 trimaran in this post.

Kevin writes, “Well, we have finally launched our Hartley Lively 28 tri. I’ve attached a pic of her on the mooring and have also posted photos on the website www.svfarsouth.weebly.com She sails great very stable and fast and tacks nicely. Have only had chance to sail once, in about 15 knts of breeze. We got 6 knts, motoring with a 15hp on low revs does 5 easily. Unfortunately, we had some problems with the compression post so could not do any more sea trials until we can do some reinforcing of the post. But I am sure once that is done should be able to start getting to 10 knts … I’m very impressed for such a old design.”
